About Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)

Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is a cleaner, low-carbon alternative to traditional jet fuel, produced from renewable and sustainable feedstocks such as agricultural residues, forestry waste, municipal solid waste, algae, and used cooking oil. SAF reduces lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared to fossil-based aviation fuel while maintaining the same performance and safety standards.

SAF is a drop-in fuel, compatible with existing aircraft engines and infrastructure, requiring no modifications to current aviation systems. This makes it a practical and immediate solution for reducing aviation's carbon footprint.

IFGE : Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Forum

The SAF Forum is dedicated to advancing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in India, supporting its role in reducing aviation sector emissions and promoting renewable energy. The forum focuses on policy advocacy to create a supportive regulatory environment, industry collaboration to foster partnerships, technical development to advance SAF technologies, and awareness building through educational initiatives. It also drives market development to attract investment and scale production. Key priorities include promoting sustainable feedstocks, aligning SAF production with international standards, addressing cost challenges, and establishing frameworks for SAF lifecycle emissions monitoring.
